Community Partnerships

After School Achievement Program (ASAP)

For 15 years, Discovery Center Museum has collaborated with Rockford Public Schools to offer the After School Achievement Program. We serve as lead agency in three at-risk schools, coordinating the staffing and providing homework assistance, mentoring and enrichment activities for 300 children each day from October through May.

Illinois Space Grant Consortium

Discovery Center Museum is one of only two museums in the state of Illinois to be a member of this organization. The purpose of the consortium is to develop and provide teacher workshops and space camps, as well as to conduct research projects on topics related to space exploration. The consortium is funded by NASA.

Alignment Rockford

Alignment Rockford was created to develop a system to bring community organizations and resources into alignment to support the goals of public schools in Rockford. Discovery Center Executive Director Sarah Wolf serves as vice president of the Alignment Rockford governing board.

Additional Partnerships

Discovery Center is also involved in partnerships with United Way of Rock River Valley, Rockford’s Early Learning Council, Head Start, District #205 Early Childhood Program, and National Informal STEM Education Network.
