Science and Fun for Visitors Under Five
Tot Spot In Tot Spot, little visitors can explore, create, and discover the world of science while doing what they do best – playing. Visitors can race balls down a ball ramp, play with water blocks, tap out a song on the wind xylophone, explore the loft, take an underwater adventure, and make some waves in the water works area.

Tot Spot Children take the lead in creating, imagining and learning through different venues that rotate through the Tot Spot role-playing area during the year. Life-like scenarios size down to a pre-school scale, for example:

  • Camping
  • Vet Clinic
  • Hilander Grocery and AMCORE Bank
  • UPS Airport
  • Tot Spot Pizza Shop

Discovery Center Museum asks that all young visitors to Tot Spot be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

To learn about what special programs and classes we currently offer for preschoolers, visit our Tot Spot section in Classes.

Did You Know?
Air vortices occur in the air around you all the time; for instance when you see leaves whirling around on the sidewalk, a hidden vortex is present. Learn more about these hidden vortexes in the Wild Weather exhibit.
